Tiger Woods Announces Return to Golf…
After four months embroiled in a sex scandal, Tiger announced
Tuesday that he will play at the Masters tournament in Augusta,
Georgia on April 8, on the course where he savored his first
big victory as a professional back in 1997.
“The Masters is where I won my first major and I view this
tournament with great respect,” Tiger said in a statement.
“Aftera long and necessary time away from the game, I feel
like I’m ready to start my season at Augusta.”
He added: “The major championships have always been a special
focus in my career and, as a professional, I think Augusta is
where I need to be, even though it’s been a while since I last
played.”
Tiger has won the Masters four times overall, but has not played
in a competitive event since the JBWere Masters in Australia in
mid-November. Later that month, he crashed his car outside his
Florida home after a fight with his wife Elin. It soon emerged
that Tiger had engaged in a pattern of chronic infidelity with a
number of women.
After disappearing from the public eye when scandal exploded,
Tiger was reportedly treated for sex addiction, resurfaced in
February and made a public apology.
The future of his marriage is unclear, but in his February
statement, he said his true contrition toward his wife “will
not come in the form of words, but my behavior over time.”

Jolie-Funded School in Afghanistan - Opens Its Doors…
Thanks to UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie, a new
primary school for girls in Tangi, Afghanistan is ready to
welcome 800 students.
Following a 2008 visit to a refugee settlement in Afghanistan’s
eastern Nangarhar province, Angelina donated $75,000 toward the
school’s construction; the facility features eight classrooms,
a well and eight latrines, and is set to begin classes next
Monday, when their school year begins.
Although UNICEF built classrooms in the area accommodating 1300
students two years ago, many parents hesitated, for cultural
reasons, to send their daughters to a school also used by boys.
A 14-year-old girl named Laila (her family returned from Pakistan
in 2008) expressed her excitement about the new school. “I always
had hopes and dreams of going to school,” she said, adding that
“the hope to become a qualified teacher has revived in me.”
Laila’s father, Ustad, a former teacher, enthused at the opening
ceremony, “This is what we needed here and I believe there is a
need for every community if we want to build the future of our
country, to build schools and get education.”
Igbal Azizi, head of the region’s provincial education, stressed
the importance of Angelina’s gift. Tangi girls, he said
“otherwise would have been deprived of education.”

Paula Abdul Headed to ‘Star Search’ Remake…
Paula Abdul’s job search may be over.
The former American Idol judge is “finalizing a deal” to star in
an updated version of Star Search, the 1980s-era talent
competition hosted by the late Ed McMahon.
Slated for summer 2010, the Star Search reboot is said to feature
Paula serving as a combination judge and host, although details
are still being worked out.
Following Paula’s departure from American Idol last year, rumors
suggested that the star was headed for Dancing With the Stars as
well as American Idol pal Simon Cowell’s upcoming X Factor show.
Unlike American Idol, the original Star Search (Arsenio Hall
starred in an attempted CBS remake that was cancelled during the
2003-2004 season) wasn’t just for singers: actors, comedians and
even models vied to win the talent contest. Alums of the
syndicated show included Britney Spears.

Charlie Sheen Pleads Not Guilty in Wife Assault Case…
Charlie Sheen pled not guilty in an Aspen, Colo. court on Monday
for allegedly attacking his wife Brooke Sheen.
Charlie has been charged with felony menacing, third degree
assault and criminal mischief for the Christmas Day incident with
Brooke; according to a police affidavit, Charlie held a knife to
Brooke’s throat and threatened to kill her.
His trial is scheduled to begin July 21. If Charlie is convicted,
he could serve one to three years in prison.
In the meantime, Charlie will go back to work filming his CBS sitcom
Two and a Half Men on Tuesday, his rep told reporters outside the
court. He checked out of an undisclosed rehab facility early last
week (his rep said he had admitted himself for “preventative
measures”).
In early February, Brooke’s attorney Yale Galanter said that she
“would like the charges to be dismissed and the case to be over.”
After checking out of Malibu’s The Canyon rehab facility last month,
Brooke is currently being treated at home for addictions to alcohol
and drugs, including crack cocain.

She admits her maternal instincts have gone into overdrive since
becoming an aunt to nephew Bronx Mowgli – her sister Ashlee
Simpson’s now 16-month-old son with rocker Pete Wentz.
Jessica has yet to find lasting love following her 2006 split from
ex-husband Nick Lachey, but the blonde beauty, who turns 30 in July,
is refusing to let her single status halt her plans for children.
Jessica reveals she is willing to start a family with Paves if all
else fails, and the openly gay stylist has agreed to father her
babies.
She says, “I can’t wait to have kids… Honestly, if I don’t have
kids by the time I’m 40, my best friend Ken Paves and I are going
to have children. Why not?”
But Ken admits he isn’t as patient as his best pal, because he
wants to be a dad before he hits the milestone.
He adds, “I’m ready now! I’ve been trying to convince her to do it
before I turn 40, which is two years.”
