Here’s the Scoop….

My Husband and I took part in the holiday season last
night and went to a pumpkin patch and picked out our 26
pound pumpkin…As we were sitting there carving our
huge pumpkin I started thinking…I wonder where this
tradition originated from???

So I ran with my curiosity, and did a little research
about it. I came up with some very interesting facts that
I would love to share with you…

The carved pumpkin, lit by a candle inside, is one of
Halloween’s most prominent symbols in America, and is
commonly called a jack-o’-lantern.
Originating in Europe, these lanterns were first carved
from a turnip or rutabaga. Believing that the head was the
most powerful part of the body containing the spirit and
the knowledge, the Celts used the “head” of the vegetable
to frighten off any superstitions.

The name jack-o’-lantern can be traced back to the Irish
legend of Stingy Jack, a greedy, gambling, hard-drinking
old farmer. He tricked the devil into climbing a tree and
trapped him by carving a cross into the tree trunk. In
revenge, the devil placed a curse on Jack, condemning him
to forever wander the earth at night with the only light he
had: a candle inside of a hollowed turnip.

The carving of pumpkins is associated with Halloween in North
America, where pumpkins were readily available and much larger,
making them easier to carve than turnips.

Police Raid Kate Hudson Halloween Party…

Hollywood star Kate Hudson’s Halloween party
attracted some unusual guests…A squad of Los
Angeles police officers reportedly made a guest
appearance at the bash and ordered guests to tone
it down a bit.

Kate, was dressed as a 1960’s flight attendant when
LAPD officers arrived at her Brentwood, California
home at 1 A.M. on Sunday morning to move guests
inside the property and warn them to keep the noise
level down.

The guest list included Courtney Cox, dressed as a
witch, and her husband David Arquette as a warlock.
Actress Winona Ryder went as a mouse and former
supermodel Cindy Crawford turned up as Amy Winehouse.

But it was “300″ actor Gerard Butler who was the biggest
hit at the Halloween bash…

A source added, “All the girls at the party were lining
up to talk to Gerard. He left with two very sexy vampires.”

Get Ready For Britney…The Movie…

Britney Spears will relive some of the most traumatic
events in her life, including her breakdown earlier
this year, when she also lost custody of her two sons
Sean Preston and Jayden James.

A source said: “It’s the film everyone will be dying to
see. It will be dark and gritty. It will chart Britney’s
devastating falls, including her traumatic custody battle
for her two children. Let’s just say it will not be for the
faint hearted, but it will also show the highs along her
incredible life journey.”

Filmmakers were initially concerned Britney might not be
strong enough to revisit her past troubles, but Britney is
said to be keen to star in the upcoming project.

A source also added, “She has been through so much and is
finally back to her best. This will be her ultimate chance
to prove to the world she’s still got it.”

Britney’s new album “Circus” will be released next month,
followed by a world tour to promote it.

DION WILL TRY TO GET PREGNANT AFTER TOUR…

Celine Dion and her husband Rene Angelil will start
trying for a second child when her “Taking Chances”
world tour comes to and end.

Celine and Rene welcomed son Rene-Charles in 2001 after
undergoing numerous fertility treatments.

Seven years later, The couple is ready to attempt the
process again. Celine said she won’t be too disappointed
if she fails to conceive the second time around.

Celine tells Oprah Winfrey, “We are going to give it a try
after my tour. Hopefully we will become pregnant again.
I have a small window of hope. But we have been so blessed
already. We tried six years for Rene Charles. We have our
miracle baby.”

Best of luck to Celine and Rene in their attempts for a
second miracle baby…

Phoenix Quits Acting…

Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix is retiring from Hollywood at
the age of 34.

The “Walk The Line” star announced his plans to move away
from acting at a fundraiser for late actor Paul Newman’s
“Children’s Charity” on Monday.

Joaquin will instead focus on his budding music career.

Joaquin said, “I want to take this opportunity… also to
give you the exclusive and just talk a little bit about the
fact that this will be my last performance as an actor…
I’m not doing films anymore. I’m working on my music. I’m
done. I’ve been through that.”

And the news has been confirmed by Joaquin’s representative,
who says, “That is what he told me.”

Joaquin’s brother-in-law, Casey Affleck, who is married to
Summer Phoenix, insists that Joaquin is for real. “I don’t
think he’s kidding. He’s got music and stuff.”

Joaquin has made just one movie this year. A romantic drama
called” Two Lovers” also staring Gwyneth Paltrow.

His vocal skills were applauded in 2005 when he recorded the
soundtrack for the Johnny Cash biopic “Walk The Line.” His
efforts won him a Grammy Award. Joaquin is now working on an
album with British rocker Tim Burgess from The Charlatans.

Jessica admits she is afraid of aging…

“I feel my knees changing. Why do I have this pain
when I’m running on the treadmill? What’s going on
with my lower back when I wake up in the morning? I
just feel changes,” Jessica says. “And I’m definitely
fearful in a very vain manner about my body aging. I
think its freaky weird to look at a picture of your
grandmother when she was a young woman and look at
her now.”

How will she cope with getting older???

“I don’t know, but I better start figuring it out!”
Jessica says.

However, Jessica isn’t likely to get plastic surgery…

“I am really afraid of blades on my face,” Jessica says.
“That freaks me out beyond belief. I would way rather have
wrinkles than have some slice-up going on.”
