“Golden Girls” legend Betty White is surprised fans have
launched an online campaign to land her a job on “Saturday
Night Live,” because she thought the public would be sick
of seeing her on TV.
Over 330,000 members of social networking website Facebook
have signed a petition to urge “Saturday Night Live” bosses
to let Betty act as a celebrity host on the long running
sketch show.
The campaign follows Betty’s hit Super Bowl ad for Snickers,
which showed her being tackled to the ground during a game of
American Football.
And Betty is overwhelmed so many people are backing her for a
role on the show, as she thought people would “be throwing
rocks instead”.
Betty commented, “I’m just amazed. I would think by now that
they’ve had such an overdose of Betty White that they’d be
throwing rocks instead. It would depend on scheduling and all
that. But who knows? You can’t ever say yes or no or never.
You just wait to see what happens.”

Jon Gosselin and TLC Reach a Settlement…
The fight between reality TV’s most famous dad, Jon Gosselin,
and TLC is finally over.
“TLC has reached a settlement with Jon Gosselin and will be
undertaking procedural steps to conclude the litigation,”
the network said in a statement Wednesday. “All terms of the
settlement are confidential. The whole Gosselin family
remain under contract with TLC. ”
A source close to the situation says that the network “hopes
they will soon be able to film the family again,” but rules
out a return of the hit show, Jon & Kate Plus 8, that made
the family household names.
The ugly back-and-forth between the network and Gosselin
included a lawsuit filed by TLC against Jon for alleged
breach of contract. It claimed that by making paid and unpaid
TV appearances without the cable network’s permission he was
in violation of his agreement with the channel.
Later, Jon filed a $5-million counterclaim, saying that the
network had damaged his career by preventing him from working
with other media outlets. Gosselin had also forbidden the
network from filming his eight children with Kate Gosselin.

Gossip Girl’s Matthew Settle and Wife Split…
Gossip Girl star Matthew Settle and his wife, Naama Nativ
have split.
“It’s true and we are working on that,” Matthew commented at
Tuesday’s G-Star Raw runway fashion show in New York. “Things
happen in life and you just have to roll with it. I wish
things could have been better but our focus is on our daughter.”
Meanwhile, a source says, “They have been separated for a
while now,” and legal proceedings are still underway and no
divorce papers between Matthew and Naama have been filed yet.
The couple, who lived together in Manhattan, where Settle
was based for his role as family patriarch on Gossip Girl,
welcomed a daughter, Aven Angelica Settle, last March.
Despite the family strife, “the baby is doing great,” said
the source. And Settle continues to play an active role in
his little girl’s upbringing. “Both parents are devoted to
their child,” adds the source. “Aven is still a part of
Matthew’s everyday life.”

Goldie Hawn wants to teach Buddhism to British kids…
Goldie Hawn is in talks to set up a Buddhist school in the
United Kingdom.
The actress’ Hawn Foundation already teaches kids Buddhist
techniques in schools across America, and now she wants to
take the initiative across the Atlantic, and use the teachings
to help British children build social and emotional stability,
and curb violent outbursts in the classroom and playground.
Goldie says, “We need to rethink our whole approach to
classroom education, integrating neuroscience with the latest
social and emotional learning techniques. A peaceful, happy
child is the first step towards a peaceful world.”
Goldie’s plans have won the support of Britain’s Conservative
Party, whose education secretary, Michael Gove, confirms,
“We are meeting to discuss how she might be able to help
education here.
“We need more new schools outside local authority control to
challenge the bureaucratic monopoly.”

Robert Pattinson in awe of friendly Pierce Brosnan…
“Twilight” heart-throb Robert Pattinson was impressed with
Pierce Brosnan’s social skills while filming their new movie,
because the former James Bond star was so kind to his fans.
Robert spent a lot of time with Brosnan while they were in
New York City shooting “Remember Me.”
But while Robert found it difficult to deal with all of the
attention from fans while out in public with his co-star,
Pierce was generous with his time when meeting devotees, and
the young actor was left in awe of the smooth-talking Irishman.
Robert commented, “He’s totally recognizable, and he makes no
effort to tone it down. Some people were glancing over at us
in the restaurant, and he just went over and introduced himself.
And it does work. It dissipates all the attention.

It’s Zac Efron…
The “High School Musical” actor joined Australian surf champions
Layne Beachley and Tom Whitaker for a lesson at the city’s famous
Bondi beach as part of a charity event.
But the Oakley’s Learn to Ride surf session, in aid of the OneSight
Foundation, was disrupted by legions of Zac’s teenage fans, who
took to the sands to glimpse their idol.
Security teams erected metal barriers around the beach in a bid to
hold back the swelling crowd, but the fans burst through and surged
onto the sand as a dozen bodyguards attempted to shield the star
from the attentions.
But despite the security fears, Zac still enjoyed 30 minutes in
the water with the surf pros.
